About Zen Mountain Mobility

This project has been a dream of mine for several years now and it is finally coming to fruition. My name is Becca, and I am a veterinarian specializing in mobility, rehabilitation, and pain management.  My mission is to provide a mobile rehabilitation and pain management service to the four legged residents of the Colorado mountain communities.  I treat numerous issues from general mobility problems and weakness, to osteoarthritis, to rehabbing from an injury like a torn cruciate ligament or recovering from a back injury. There are so many things we can do to help speed up healing, build back strength and deal with chronic pain in our four legged family members.  My aspiration is to make every one of my patients as comfortable and as mobile as possible so that they can continue to live their best lives in this beautiful mountain oasis we call home.

Becca’s Story

I began my journey along the veterinary path on the breathtaking island of St. Kitts, in the West Indies.   This tiny little rock in the Caribbean Sea taught me a lot about myself and was only the beginning of my adventure.  I had the privilege of attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed a little over 3 years of my education on the island and then attended the University of Georgia for my clinical year.  Both were amazing places to spend some time!

I graduated veterinary school in 2005 and jumped right into practicing emergency medicine.  I spent some time in Ohio at a specialty hospital and then returned back to Colorado and landed  in Boulder.  I spent the next few years practicing emergency medicine there and loving all that the Colorado mountains have to offer.

In 2012 I was given the opportunity to return back to the Caribbean and teach (no way I was passing that up!).  I spent the next three and a half years truly enjoying teaching and island life again.  I became very interested in pain management, holistic and alternative options and sought out my acupuncture certification during that time.  I attended the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) to gain that certification.  From there I started treating my patients in the islands and teaching an elective course to my students.

Once again the mountains of Colorado seemed to be calling.  I landed back in Boulder and eventually made my way to Summit County which is where my heart is now.   After 17 years of emergency medicine and teaching I was ready for a new adventure.  My training in acupuncture lead me to really dig deep into pain management and alternative avenues to keep my patients comfortable and active.  I then attended the Canine Rehabilitation Institute to become certified in rehabilitation therapy.  This lead to an amazing 2 and 1/2 years at a specialized rehabilitation practice where I gained invaluable experience and mentorship.  Now I am excited to bring all of that to the mountain communities with Zen Mountain Mobility.
